How to decrypt the Operation Chaos diskette in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War?

First of all it is important to specify that the solution will change for all players. On the other hand, the operating system remains the same for all. Before beginning the decryption process players should have found the following clues.

  • Front page of the "Nationwide Observer" newspaper in the mission Red light, green light.
  • A coded message in the mission Nowhere to run.
  • The numbers of the radio station in the mission brick in the wall.

Once these clues are in hand, players can start looking for the right code to decrypt the floppy disk.

Nationwide Observer front page

Thanks to Bell's observation skills, certain letters stand out and are marked in red in the headlines of the newspaper. The aim here will be to note these letters and arrange them in order to obtain the name of a city present in the list of radio station numbers. Which will give a four-digit number.

In this example from IGN the letters N, M, D, I, A, S, O give Madison and the number O629.

Coded message

The second clue gives two sets of numbers, one in blue and one in red. it is preferable to note the two sequences separately to better visualize the pattern. The aim here will also be to find the two missing numbers in the sequence of numbers to obtain a number present on the list of radio stations.

In this example the first sequence is: 55, 61, 66, the missing number and 76. We notice that by adding 5 each time we obtain the following number. The missing number is therefore 71. For the sequence 31, 33, 37 and 57 we note that we add 2, then 4, then 6 and so on the missing number is therefore 43. The four-digit code is therefore 7143 ( Austin).

Decrypt the diskette

After finding the solution to the two previous coded messages, the time will have come to decrypt the diskette. To do this, you must first exit the table of evidence and then select "Decrypt the diskette".

Use next the four digits of the first index for the first phase (0629 in this example). For the second phase it will be necessary write the name of the city found (Austin in this example).
