Stronghold: Warlords multiplayer breaks the mold a bit with a new co-op mode that lets players team up to dominate the world. Firefly Studios showed off Stronghold: Warlords' co-op mode in a lengthy new gameplay video and shared some insights.
Most RTS and civic building games with multiplayer empires and friends against each other. Stronghold: Warlords does a lot of this in deathmatch mode, but co-op allows players to share resources and strategy together.
Firefly Marketing Director Nick Tannahill said:
Stronghold is already a complex game for newcomers, with a mix of economy city building, castle simulation, and real-time strategy.
The introduction of co-op means one player can manage base construction, while the other leads their forces into battle or prepares their defenses for an impending siege.
Co-op is a chance for experienced players to share knowledge and help newcomers integrate into the many systems of Warlords, but beyond that it's a way to divide up tasks and increase combat and management efficiency.
One player can fan household fires and manage diplomacy or the economy, for example, and the other can wage a global war and bring nations under their thumb.
Firefly has delayed Stronghold: Warlords to release multiplayer, which includes the recently announced co-op mode. Stronghold: Warlords releases March 9 for PC via Steam, and if our previous hands-on experience and preview of new classes is anything to go by, it'll be worth the wait.
