FFXIV Ophiotauros Hide: How to Get It

Ophiotauros Hide is used to craft Ophiotauros Leather in FFXIV: Endwalker, a primary component in a number of leatherworking and other crafting activities. In this guide, we'll cover how to get Ohiotauros Hide so you can start crafting this level 88-90 gear.

How to Hide Ophiotauros in FFXIV

Breeding Ophiotauros themselves is the quickest and most obvious way to get your hands on Ohiotauros Hide without having to spend any gil. These monsters can be found in Elpis, near the end of Endwalker.

Ophiotauros is found in the northwestern part of Elpis in Ethoseletikos Boreas, around coordinates (14.8,8.2). Ophiotauros Hide isn't a guaranteed drop of these mobs, so you'll probably have to kill a lot of them to get what you need. Be aware that other players will likely farm them too as this is the start of the expansion.

If you don't want to farm Ophiotauros directly, either because it just seems cumbersome or other players are hogging their spawns, you can trade them in for two-color gems.

It costs two two-tone gems for an Ophiotauros skin, and you can get them on both FFXIV: Shadobringers and Endwalker FATE. You can exchange your bicolors at any of the gem merchants in Labyrinthos, Radz-at-Han, and Old Sharlayan.

You can, of course, choose to just buy Ophiotauros Hide or even Ophiotauros Leather from the market, but the cost will be high this early in the set. It's best to raise these babies yourself, either by grinding the Ophiotauros themselves or going the two-tone gem route.
