How to fix Zomboid project failed to establish p2p connection error

To fix the Zomboid project p2p connection error, players will need to locate and delete the server and save the configuration files to the Zomboid folder.

This is a nuclear option, but it is the only confirmed method to correct the error. For this reason, we recommend trying this option to save you time and troubleshooting.

That said, you can find both the server and save files in the Zomboid folder on your main hard drive, as shown below.

    • C:Usersyour usernamehi:DZomboid

In this folder, find the server and save the folders. In both folders, you will need to delete both the configuration files located in save and server in those folders.

Here is the exact address of the two files:

    • C:UsersyourusernameZomboidSavesMultiplayer
    • C:UsersyourusernameZomboidServer

Once you have deleted the two configuration files, all you have to do is download the server again. After downloading the server, it will load and start as expected.

Another method you can try if you don't want to use the nuclear option is to run StartServer32 or StartServer 64.

You can find both bat files in the steamapp folder. However, this method has been reported to not work, so we strongly recommend that you go for the first option to save time.
