Borderlands 3 developer Gearbox has a weird way of rewarding its players with unique items and weapons. Occasionally they will drop shift codes which can be redeemed in-game for Golden Keys, cosmetics, or weapons. Cosmetics are often unlocked as soon as you enter the code, as well as weapons tied to special events. However, when the shift code gives you a gold key, things work a bit differently.
How to get a golden key in Borderlands 3
Step One: Get a Team Code
There are several ways to get shift codes through social media. You probably have a Twitter or Facebook account, which is the only requirement to get these codes as they are released. The list below provides you with accounts you can track that release shift codes.
Shift codes that are removed from these sources are almost always temporary and must be entered before they expire. There is no specific length of life for all codes, but it is usually between 24 hours and one week. If you collect these codes when they are deposited, redeem them quickly!

Step Two: Redeem Team Code
You will need to have a SHiFT account and link it to your game account. By doing so, you will have access to redeem your shift codes via the website or in the game menu. To use it in game, follow as following:
If the Golden Keys are used for weapons or cosmetics, you will find that they are immediately available to you. However, if the codes are redeemable for Golden Keys, you need to go to your in-game mailbox to get them. They will be put in your character's inventory and you can use them to unlock rare items in the loot box.
