How to get Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity

The hardest secret character to unlock in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is the big boss himself, Calamity Ganon. Indeed, you must face some of the most difficult bosses in the game, all within a very difficult time limit. You'll also need to have unlocked one of the other hidden characters and reached a fairly high level, so you'll need to prepare ahead of time.

We strongly suggest that you take the time to complete as many Age of Calamity quests as you can, as each can help in its own way to level up. As long as you can survive the fight against the three bosses, you will unlock Calamity Ganon as the last secret character in Age of Calamity.

Of course, you'll need some boss tips to get you through the fight and we'll oblige. This guide will focus on battle tips against each of the three bosses, especially how to defeat all three within the 12 minute time limit.

How to unlock Calamity Ganon?

To unlock Calamity Ganon in Age of Calamity you will need to:

  • Complete the main campaign
  • Unlock Terrako as a playable character
  • Reach a level high enough to complete the challenge
  • Complete 'Versus Calamity Ganon' to unlock Calamity Ganon as a playable character

Once you have reached the required level of 74 and unlocked Terrako, you can complete the challenge. This is a three boss gauntlet with a 12 minute time limit. The bosses you will face are Astor, Harbinger Ganon, and Calamity Ganon.

Astor

Defeating Astor quickly depends on you dodging his purple Malice attacks with pinpoint accuracy. If you manage to get a Flurry Rush, you will quickly reduce its gauge.

Once it breaks for the first time, Astor will create a shield to kill your time. Defeat the mischievous clones that spawn, then get a whole bunch of hits on Astor as he comes out of the shield state. Save your A button attack if you reach max charge as it is best used against the other two bosses.

Harbinger Ganon

This weird guardian variant has powerful attacks, but also attacks you can interrupt with Sheika Slate abilities. The most common will be stasis when he's about to whirl around like a whirling dervish.

His swipes can also make him temporarily vulnerable to attacks that can break his balance, so take advantage of any chance you get. If you're in a tight spot, you can use the A button's special attack against this boss, but it's best used against the third and final boss in the gauntlet.

Calamity Ganon

For a more comfortable fight, you'll ideally want around 7-8 minutes on the timer remaining by the time you reach the third boss. Calamity Ganon has a ton of health and powerful attacks that might be hard to dodge if you're rushing. Be on the lookout, as always, for attacks where you can use Sheikah Slate's abilities to stun her briefly, as they help you break her balance quickly.

After clearing his first break gauge and using the weak point attack, you'll immediately want to use a special attack on him. This will stagger Calamity Cannon long enough for you to clear its break gauge. You might not get it all the way, but a big enough chunk of it will go away, and you'll soon have another chance to use a weak point attack. Keep sapping his health and dodging his attacks, and before long you'll land that all-important final blow.

Unlocking Calamity Ganon is somewhat of a completion bonus, as he doesn't really help with the main campaign, but he does have his own training challenges to complete. That's it for this guide, but if you find the fight against all three bosses a little difficult, maybe one of the Age of Calamity recipes can help tip the balance in your favor.
