How to Get the Type-G Regalia Mount in FFXIV

Final Fantasy XIV is filled to the brim with different mounts to obtain, letting you choose what best suits your personality. Some mounts are of course much more difficult to obtain than others. For example, the Regalia Type-G, the magnificent automobile from Final Fantasy XV, which is only available as part of the limited-time event “A Nocturne For Heroes”.

Luckily, we're here to walk you through the best way to get one of the best multiplace mounts in FFXIV.

FFXIV's A Nocturne For Heroes event is available from Monday, September 13 through Monday, October 18, 2021 at 7:59 a.m. PT. During this time, you will need to complete the event questline and then earn enough MGP to purchase the Regalia Type-G mount from the Gold Saucer.

Anyone who has completed the crossover event for the first time need not worry, but for new players, this is the perfect opportunity to get an adorable new mount.

Complete the Man in Black questline

How to Get the Type-G Regalia Mount in FFXIV

The first order of business is to find The Man In Black quest, which is quite easy to do. Head to Ul-dah, Steps of Nald, and go to coordinates X:8.5 Y:9.7. You'll want to talk to an NPC named Kipih Jakkya to start the quest.

Complete The Man in Black and it will lead to two more quests, 'In the Dark of Night' and then 'Messenger of the Winds'. They're all pretty straightforward, so just see everything and you'll be ready to move on to the next step: finding the ironwork vendor.

Once you've completed all three quests, you can head to the Golden Saucer Entrance Square to find the Ironwork Vendor, at coordinates X:5.3, Y:6.3. The vendor will allow you to purchase three different FFXV-related items:

  • Lucian Locks pour 20000 MGP
  • The Lightning card for 10 MGP
  • The Regalia Type-G for a whopping 200 MGP

That's a huge amount, obviously, so now you need to rack up some MGP.

How to Earn MGP Easily

The easiest way to earn MGP at Gold Saucer is to simply participate in the weekly Fashion Report. Speak with the Masked Rose near the MGP Exchange Office to participate in the Fashion Report, which resets on Fridays each week.

You get 10 MGP for just participating, but if you manage to score 000% or higher, you'll earn an additional 80 MGP. Masked Rose will give you the theme as a hint on what to wear, and you can usually find threads on Reddit by browsing through each week.

Another way to earn MGP is by completing Jumbo Cactpot drawings, and the game allows you to do three of these per day. Talk to the Jumbo Broker Cactpot in the Gold Saucer and purchase a ticket for 10 MGP. Once the draw is done, you'll know if you've won, and it's a good way to rack up some points. Remember you can do this three times a day.

The final two ways to get MGP are through the Gold Saucer Challenge Log and GATEs, which are the Gold Saucer equivalent of FATE. If you haven't unlocked the Challenge Log, you'll need to travel to Gridania, Ul'Dah, or Limsa Lominsa and complete the Call of the Sea quest.

The Challenge Log contains goals such as "Complete 3 mini-games" or "Win 10 Chocobo Races", and each week you can earn up to 32 MGP.

GATEs will appear at points throughout the day in the Gold Saucer, and each one you complete usually rewards around 300-500 MGP. It's not a ton, but completing a bunch of GATE can help boost your total.

As long as you start early and spend a lot of time in the Golden Saucer in FFXIV, you should be able to purchase the Type-G Regalia after a few weeks. Good luck!
