To sneak into Project Zomboid you will need to press the c key to crouch and avoid going out in the open near the zombies. Pressing c will put your character in a crouched position which is quieter than walking. You can use the crouch button to sneak along walls and also reduce your visibility.
Zombies will also have a better chance of detecting the player when they reach a certain distance. To avoid being detected, we recommend that you keep a safe distance between you and the zombie you want to avoid.

In addition to keeping a safe distance, you'll want to avoid making noise while sneaking around. Upgrading lightfoot is a great way to avoid making noise, and you can upgrade it by simply sneaking up close to zombies.
Sneaking around zombies will also have the benefit of improving your stealth skill, making it much easier to sneak around undead.
That said, try sneaking around zombies if you want to improve. If you get caught, don't worry, because you can easily outrun any zombie that starts following you. But if more than one zombie starts following you, we recommend losing them in buildings or woods.
