Konami's GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon hits early access in May

Announced during Nintendo's Indie World Showcase on April 14, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is a new 2D rouguevania-style platformer set in a dark fantasy world inspired by classic Japanese art.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon will first launch on Steam via Early Access on May 13, 2021, for $24,99, with a Nintendo Switch release to follow in 2022. The trailer released during the showcase revealed some of the beautiful Ukiyo-e style artwork, as well as the harrowing combat and eclectic arsenals available in the game.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is developed by GuruGuru alongside Konami Digital Entertainment. Curiously, the combat draws inspiration from Japanese martial arts, with a strong emphasis on spacing and timing in the heat of battle.

Perhaps most interesting about GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is that players who purchase the game in Early Access will also gain access to the original GetsuFumaDen, which was released exclusively in Japan on the Famicom in 1987.

The game's producer, Shin Murato, said:

Having an early access period gives us a great opportunity to build a community for GetsuFumaDen and ensure the game is as strong as possible. Throughout this period, we want to use user feedback and foster active discussion to improve the quality of the game.

We will be working closely with our community to help bring this game to life through content reviews, bug fixes, and balancing. We are currently focusing on Early Access; we will share more details about Nintendo Switch in the future.
