The new 1.3 update and Ideology expansion for Rimworld have both been a boon to Ludeon Studios' sandbox colony sim, but some players find Rimworld's UI lacking once they try. to start a game. Don't get discouraged or start panicking: there aren't many things that could make Rimworld's UI go away.
There are two ways you can try to solve this problem, the first being the easier of the two and the other requiring some detective work.
Missing Rimworld UI Fix: Verify Game Files
First and foremost, the ever reliable option to verify your local Rimworld files on Steam. This fixed this issue for a number of players, both in patch 1.3 and earlier.
To check your local game files, right-click the game in your Steam library and click Properties. Then click on Local Files, then on “Verify integrity of game files” and let it do its thing.
If that doesn't work, then you'll need to do some research in your mods.
Missing Rimworld UI fix: disable outdated mods
A lot of Rimworld players have their games filled to the brim with mods, myself included, which is why this solution is a bit problematic but necessary if your UI is still not showing.
You will first want to go through your mod list and look for outdated mods, as not all mods have been or will be updated for 1.3. Disable outdated ones.
If there are any mods you can't live without that haven't yet been updated to 1.3, you can try to focus only on those that have a particularly big impact on the UI, such as the color-coded mood bar.
If you need to disable some outdated mods, it's also a good idea to browse the Steam Workshop and look for spin-off updates for mods you currently own that are outdated. Sometimes different mod creators jump in and update an old mod instead of the original creator just to make it faster. It never hurts to check.
