The Music Box is a cursed Phasmophobia possession that allows players to locate the ghost. Like all cursed goods, however, there are risks when using the box.
How does it work?
Spawning in one of several places Cursed Possessions can spawn, the Music Box has the same chance of spawning as other Possessions. Only one can exist on the map, so if the player has found another possession, they will not find the music box. The song she plays is written by one of the game developers named Lavender.
When players pick up the item, they can put it down with the use key or turn on the music box with the secondary use key, or F. While the box is playing, the ghost will start singing the melody. It gives a good indication of its location, but there is a danger in using it.

If the ghost is too close to the Box, it will start walking towards it, completely visible. While this can be useful for photo-taking opportunities, if the ghost approaches the music box for more than five seconds or manages to touch the box while it's on, a cursed hunt will occur. One player can hold the music box while another also explores for the song. For solo hunts, the player can drop the box while searching as long as they pay attention to the ghost's distance.
