Axie Infinity is a game about breeding and fighting magical creatures called Axie. With the involvement of real money, every gamer wants a unique Axie that could set them apart from their competitors. You can breed any two Axies by paying Love Potions and 1 AXS as a mating fee. While the initial breeding may seem simple and easy, the rules become complex as you progress through the game.
So here is a step-by-step guide to breeding and predicting your offspring's results using the calculator.
What are Axie genes?
Before you prepare to breed two Axies, you need to understand the concept of genes. Each Axie has six different body parts and three types of genes associated with those parts.
- Dominant(D): 37,5% chance of passing this trait on to offspring.
- Recessive (R1): 9,375% chance of passing this trait on to offspring.
- Minor recessive (R2): 3,125% chance of passing this trait on to offspring
An offspring will receive the majority of the characteristics of the dominant class from either parent with some mismatch of the R1 and R2 genes. Sounds confusing, doesn't it? Use the breeding calculator to display all possible results between two breeding axes.

How to raise two Axie?
Similar to the real world, breeding in Axie Infinity requires two mature Axie. To begin breeding, follow the steps below.
- Select the first Axie in your inventory and click the "Race" button next to the sell icon.
- After clicking on the race, a separate window will open asking you to choose the second Axie.
- Pay the breeding fee and start breeding.
What is the cost of breeding?
Each breeding session requires a fee that players must pay to conduct a mating session. While the AXS fee is 1 for any breeding, the SLP or number of small love potions will vary depending on how many races the Axie has.

After mating, you will receive the offspring in the form of an egg in your inventory. This egg will turn into an adult after five days.
Breeding tips and tricks
- When looking for a new Axie in the market, remember to buy an Axie with a low race count, as each axie can only spawn seven times during its lifespan.
- An Axie with a race count of 0 is called a Virgin Axie and requires the fewest love potions to breed.
- Descendants of the same parent cannot breed with each other, nor with their parents.
- Special genetic characteristics like Mystic and Holiday are not transferable genes but random traits.
- If both parents are of the same class, the offspring will be of the same type. Otherwise, it's 50-50 between the two parent class types.
Don't forget to have a vision of your baby Axie and try to predict it using the calculator for a chance to replicate your idea. You primarily breed for stronger offspring who will benefit you by fighting them against other stronger Axies. So try to create an offspring that has great offensive and defensive stats.
