The Diablo 3 Darkening of Tristram event is back. This unique event takes players into the realm of the very first Diablo game, which is a massive maze with a large number of unique monsters. This guide will provide you with tips on how to complete the Darkening of Tristram 2021 event.

The main challenge of this Diablo 3 event is to kill all monsters and bosses, but there are also a few additional challenges that will add several exclusive rewards to your stash if you decide to level them up.



Darkening of Tristram 2021 Walkthrough

Teleport to Tristram

To enter the world of Trsitram, you must return to the very first Waypoint, which appears in Act I of Diablo 3.

Once you're there, follow these simple steps to access Tristram:

  • Take the Waypoint to the Ancient Ruins
  • Turn left and go down

  • Enter the Griswold Fine Weapons Portal
  • Enter the maze

    The Labyrinth is the main location for the Darkening of Tristram event. The entrance is located just above the gate.

    It has 16 levels and each level except the first one has a number of unique monsters that you need to kill. Here's the full breakdown for each tier:

    There are 40 monsters in total that you need to kill. However, only one monster spawns on each floor. This means that you will have to try to go through the Labyrinth several times in order to collect all the monsters on the list.



    Kill all bosses

    Apart from the unique monsters, you must also kill the four main bosses in the Labyrinth. Here are their locations:

    • The butcher is on the 2nd floor at the very end.

    • The Skeleton King resides on the 3rd floor inside Leoric's Tomb.

    • Archbishop Lazarus can be seen at the Unholy Altar, located between the 15th and 16th floors.

    • The Dark Lord can be encountered at the very end of the Labyrinth walkthrough.

    Once you defeat the Dark Lord, you will be rewarded with the Butcher pet and the Legendary Gem Red Soul Shard.

    Acquire Transmog Weapons

    In addition to the main Darkening of Tristram event line, you can acquire additional items, such as two transmog weapons.

    The first is The Butcher's Cleaver, which comes from The Butcher boss, and the second is Wirt's Leg, which can be acquired by following these steps:

  • Enter the 9th floor of the Labyrinth
  • Pick up a rotten mushroom from the ground
  • Travel to Adria's Hut in the easternmost part of Tristram
  • Use the mushroom and cauldron to brew Witch's Brew
  • Return to the Ancient Ruins Portal
  • Locate four corpses in four directions
  • Click on it in the following order: South -> North -> West -> East
  • The final corpse will drop Wirt's Leg blueprint, which can be crafted at Headrig.

    Acquire a royal calf animal

    Along with the Butcher pet, you can also acquire the Royal Calf pet, a cow that automatically loot loot.

    Follow these steps to get the Royal Calf pet:

  • Wirt's Rescue Leg
  • The star map will appear in your inventory

  • Return to Adria's Hut
  • Locate three dead cows east of the cabin
  • Click on the cows in the following order: center -> left -> right
  • Go through the portal that will appear in front of you

  • Follow the path until you reach the Wirt's Stash
  • Wirt's Stash will contain the Royal Calf and gold for you as well.

    Collect Cultist Pages

    The final challenge in the Diablo 3 Darkening of Tristram event is to collect seven Cultist Pages, which are dropped by Cultists that randomly spawn in the five acts of the Tristram adventure mode in various locations.
