The AFK kick timer in FFXIV is intended to prevent players from staying logged in when idle and to allow other players to log into the game. Awaiting players at their peak, many are wondering how to stay connected to FFXIV while the AFK kick timer is maxed out.
Final Fantasy XIV: Is it possible to avoid the AFK kick timer?
Normally some players would say there's a way to bypass it, but after Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker launches - and probably for some time afterwards - there's actually no way around the move timer. foot AFK.
If you know the method people use under normal circumstances to get around the game by kicking them (which I won't spell out here), know that it currently doesn't work.
The game will always tell you that you are going to be logged out for inactivity, and will do so shortly thereafter unless you interact with the game in some way.
It could be a month or two before Square Enix disables this new, stricter AFK kick timer. The standard, which was disabled for much of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, was reimplemented earlier this year due to the influx of new players.
