Once you reach level 60 in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands and have chosen an alliance, you should focus on earning renown. Our guide explains what Fame is and how it works, how to increase your Fame levels, and what to do if you're falling behind in weekly Fame collection.
What is Renown in WoW: Shadowlands?
Renown is a new system that displays your current position within the alliance of your choice. Your renown level reflects the trust you've gained with your alliance, and reaching higher renown levels grants you access to exclusive items like mounts, pets, cosmetics, and more. your levels to earn these benefits.

There are 40 levels of fame in total. Max out your fame to unlock all available perks, plus four achievements (one for every ten levels of fame earned).
How to get fame
There are three main ways to rank your fame:
- Covenant Campaign: You gain a single level of Renown for each chapter you complete in your Covenant Campaign. This is the safest way to level up at the start of your Covenant adventures.
- Gather Anima for the Sanctum (Weekly Quest): Every week you can drop 1000 Anima into your Sanctum to earn renown. You can collect Anima from world quests, defeat rare monsters, and complete dungeons. Access this quest from your Pact Sanctum.
- Maw Rescues (Weekly Quest): Saving the Tormented Souls of Maw will also reward you with a certain amount of Renown per week. You can access this quest from your Covenant Sanctum.
Renown Catch-Up System
Have you recently changed alliances or given up on weekly Renown leveling quests? No worries, the Renown Catch-Up system allows players to make up the difference by completing various other tasks, like raiding, PvP, calling, and completing dungeons. You'll still need to work a bit to increase your fame level, but these alternative options make the process much more bearable.
